The majority of Lombok ‘s population is Sasak. No one seems to really know for sure where the Sasak people come – some believe India due to their dark complexions and curly hair.
However, many believe that there was an influx of immigrants in Lombok Java sometime in the fourteenth century following the collapse of the Hindu Majapahit when Islam has spread to eastern Sumatra to Java.
