Costa Rica Solo Adventure Race

Euforia Expeditions strives to draw attention to the tropics, especially Costa Rica, which is a country located in the heart of the tropics. It is a small nation with immense natural beauty.

Weather conditions constantly change – there are 12 different microclimates, vast territories of virgin jungle, breathtaking coasts, exuberant vegetation and hundreds of rivers and lakes, all ideal for adventure racing.

The “Costa Rica Solo Adventure Race” will take you on a breathtaking journey from the heights of the mountains, down ferocious rivers, ending on the splendorous coasts of the Pacific Ocean. All your senses must be primed to find your way through the tropical jungle, climb and rappel the canyons, cross hills and volcanoes and skirt along small towns and vast fields.

This is Euforia’s showcase event, pitting high performance athletes against one another in one of the most competitive environments in the world, crossing more than 200 kilometers. The participants will go through 10 of the 12 microclimates found in the country. They will cross paths with white water rivers, active and extinct volcanoes and most of Costa Rica’s mountainous backbone, the range that extends from the greater column of mountains running the length of the Americas, as well as coasts, gulfs, and not to mention the multitude of forests.

This is an exclusive event that incorporates diverse disciplines, putting to the test each racers’ endurance, strength and skill. The expedition will go through an array of terrains such as sand, paved roads, mud, dirt, rocks and gravel, among others. The goal is to test organizational strategy and adaptation as well as physical and psychological strength.

This unique 200+ kilometer nonstrop race is approximately 3 days of adventure racing in the tropics. Trekking, land navigation, open water kayak, ropes, mountain biking, canyoning and other challenges will make this race an unforgettable experience.

There will be assistance at designated stations along the course where trained professionals will provide aid for whatever needs the racers might have.

Competitors may choose from among three categories: individual female, individual male and mixed teams of three.

This adventure race will be an excellent way to measure the competitive level of each participant. Athletes must have intermediate to advanced navigation skills to compete.

It will be a difficult test in which athletes will have to demonstrate not only their physical prowess, but also their mental agility as they make sharp decisions at crucial moments.
